The Central Reserve Police Force (crpf long form) is the nation's largest Central Armed Police Force. It operates under the authority that is the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The primary function of the CRPF is in supporting the State/Union Territories through police activities in order to protect the law and order and combat the insurgency. It was established in the form of the Crown Representative's Police on the 27th of July 1939. Following Indian Independence, it was officially incorporated as a part of the Central Reserve Police Force on the passage of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

Alongside law enforcement and counter-insurgency duties and counter-insurgency responsibilities and counter-insurgency tasks, the CRPF has been playing a greater role within india's counter-insurgency and law and order functions as well as North East elections. This is especially true for that former state Jammu as well as Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, because of the occurrence of tension and sometimes violent conflict. During the Parliamentary elections of September 1999 the CRPF played a key role in security measures. At present, CRPF contingents are also being deployed into UN missions.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The Hqrs of headquarters of the Force Headquarters of Central Reserve Police Force is located in Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. CGO Complex is a complex of New Delhi. CGO Complex is led by the Director General , who is assisted with three Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The structure follows as follows :

Directorate General

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is located under the direction under the supervision of lG (Adm). They are supported with the help of DIG (Adm) and DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the supervision of lG (Pers). He is assisted by assistance of DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is under the direct supervision of IG(Training). He is assisted with the assistance with the help of DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

The Operations Directorate is functioning under the direction by IG (OPS). He is assisted with the help by DIG (OPS-I) as well as DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate operates under the direct direction of IG (Provisioning). He is supported by the (Prov) and DIG (Prov) and the DIG (Mod and the ORD), DIG(MT), Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is the head of Communication Dte. Communication Dte. He is supported by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the oversight is the responsibility of IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch is operated under supervision of the IG(Estt.). The IG(Estt.) is backed by DIG(Law) together with DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is managed under the direct supervision from FA. He is assisted by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the direction of the IG/ Director (Medical). They are supported by two Dy. Director (Medical)
